RI secures US$104,000 Chile export potential through business matching - ANTARA News Jawa Timur

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Trade Ministry secured potential export transactions worth US$104,000 through a business matching program with Chilean buyers, involving coffee, palm oil derivatives, and adult diapers.

The program was organized by the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Santiago in Chile to connect Indonesian exporters with potential overseas buyers and expand non-oil and gas exports.

"Business matching is an important strategy to bring together Indonesian businesses and potential buyers abroad while opening opportunities for non-oil and gas exports to global markets. We continue to encourage businesses to participate in business matching and become exporters," Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade Fajarini Puntodewi said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.

Deputy Head of ITPC Santiago Tesa Listva Kusumawardani said the three business matching sessions were held online from June 23 to June 30, 2026.

The largest potential transaction came from palm oil and its derivatives worth US$46,000, followed by coffee products worth US$28,000 and adult diapers worth US$30,000.

"The initial purchase plans from each buyer will serve as an evaluation stage for product quality, pricing, supply capacity, and market response before increasing purchase volumes in the next stage," Tesa said.

She said Chilean buyers' interest in Indonesian products has continued to grow, including processed food products, food industry raw materials, and personal care products.

The increasing interest shows broader opportunities for Indonesia to diversify its exports to Chile. ITPC Santiago will continue facilitating communication between Indonesian exporters and Chilean buyers to accelerate transaction realization, Tesa said.

Trade Ministry data showed that Indonesia-Chile total trade reached US$226.20 million in January-May 2026, up 1.02 percent from the same period in 2025.

Indonesia's exports to Chile totaled US$179.10 million, while imports from Chile reached US$47.10 million during the period.

Throughout 2025, Indonesia-Chile trade reached US$535.50 million, with Indonesia recording a trade surplus of US$347.50 million. Indonesia's exports to Chile stood at US$441.50 million, while imports totaled US$94 million.

Indonesia's main export commodities to Chile in 2025 included vehicles and parts, footwear, fertilizers, machinery and mechanical appliances, as well as paper and paperboard.
