Kotabaru government supports Meratus Geopark development - ANTARA News Kalimantan Selatan

Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru government has launched the "Geopark Collaborative Governance" as the foundation for developing the Saijaan Bersujud cluster of the Meratus Geopark.

This is part of a change initiative spearheaded by the General Affairs Assistant of the Kotabaru Administration Anang Muhammad Zen to support the development of the Meratus Geopark by strengthening governance and collaboration across regional agencies.

Anang Muhammad Zen stated that geopark development cannot be undertaken by a single agency alone. Collaboration and synergy among all stakeholders are required to ensure integrated geopark management.

According to him, strengthening cross-agency governance is crucial to ensuring that every government entity has a clear role and responsibility in supporting the geopark's development.

Through the Geopark Collaborative Governance, the district government encourages coordination and collaboration among stakeholders, so that the geological, biological, and cultural potential of the Kotabaru can be developed in integrated manner.

This initiative is expected to be a foundation to strengthen the development of the Meratus Geopark’s Saijaan Bersujud cluster, while simultaneously supporting efforts to preserve the area and it use for tourism development and improving community welfare.

The launch event also featured outreach session on the potential of Kotabaru geopark by the Meratus Geopark Management Agency to introduce the potential and strategic value of the area.

The event continued with a public review of the geopark roadmap, providing a platform to gather input and perspectives from various parties regarding the future direction of the geopark's development.
