BGN prepares rating app to monitor free meal program services - ANTARA News Jawa Timur

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is preparing a rating application for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program to strengthen oversight and evaluate service quality across Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), or MBG kitchens.

Through the application, school principals and teachers will be able to directly rate the kitchens supplying meals to their schools, including on delivery punctuality and the suitability and quality of the meals provided.

BGN Spokesperson Tysa Novenny said in Jakarta on Friday that school involvement is essential to building a responsive oversight system.

“Through the MBG rating app, we aim to ensure that schools’ voices are heard directly and that their feedback becomes an integral part of the service evaluation process,” Tysa said.

Schools will be able to rate services on a scale of one to five stars and provide notes on the aspects being evaluated. The mechanism is expected to give BGN a clearer and more measurable picture of SPPG service quality while helping the agency identify issues requiring follow-up.

In addition to the rating application, schools experiencing service problems can use existing reporting channels or escalate complaints directly to BGN if the issues remain unresolved.

Strengthening the feedback mechanism is part of BGN’s efforts to establish more transparent and responsive MBG governance involving multiple stakeholders.

By improving digital systems and involving schools in providing feedback, the agency aims to establish a monitoring mechanism that goes beyond administrative checks and captures real-time service conditions on the ground.

Targeting millions of beneficiaries nationwide, the MBG program was launched in early 2025 as a key program of the Prabowo Subianto administration to improve the nutritional status of toddlers, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and school-age children.

To maintain service quality, BGN recently permanently shut down four SPPGs over operational misconduct and failures to meet food safety standards.
